Why do people opt for a job as their means of living?

If you have not read any motivational books or attended any highly motivational seminars that will feed you with stories of prosperous entrepreneurs who just left it all behind and mysteriously became millionaires in just a matter of time then in essence this is not a question you would be struggling with.

But most folks out there are frustrated in their jobs because they are merely there just so they can pay bills.

There is nothing wrong if you are passionate about your job, but the problem starts when you have trouble sleeping at knight because of your debts. Most jobs don't pay in propotion to our standards of living

As a result people often end up being drawn to all kinds of motivational business books or self development seminars where they are taught various theories and so called proven principles on how to make money. As much as some can be authentic and help inspire people to start doing something but most can cripple ones future if not considered practically and inter-phased with ones current situation.

Weight Your Risks First.

People end up taking irresponsible decision like quitting their jobs or perhaps using their life time savings to initiate some business idea with courage summed up from these motivational gurus.

This risk can offcourse be taken (under certain conditions) but if you look on the other side of the spectrum, the financial loss and implications of failure will be far more devastating to you and people in your life. You may end up losing an otherwise stable career or even breaking up your family when things do not go as planned.

This option can be viable (but under really extreme cases). You need not quit your work, there are other options of making extra money. without imposing so much risk on you.

So What Does This Have To Do With Your Job?

The reality is, you need a source of income even if you have a great vision and big goals especially if you have a family to support. Your mind is in the right place if you are pursuing additional income, however bear in mind that your job will support you in the following areas during that time.
It enables you to:
• Feed and support your family
• Maintain a good credit record
• Network with other business people
• Access other income opportunities
• Develop more business skills
• Access other business networks

So be grateful to your daytime_job, keep it and be a great hard-working employee BUT do not sit in that comfort zone of a rat race and let it be your only source of income. Unleash the potential you have in building other streams of income till you achieve your financial goal. Do not let any degree of self-doubt hold you back, we are all blessed with potential and different talents.
